Shardan visitors - a question for Demonologists.

Post by graham t » 04 Sep 2019, 09:14

I've been told time and again how dangerous it would have been if we were to have attacked the golf demon in the camp at the Summer Moot, and even if we'd sent it back it would have returned at the head of an army, or torn us all to pieces and sent us all over the planes, or transported us all to Sharda and left us there, or any one of a million terrifying things if we'd dare to challenge it.

My question is this - it looks like for these reasons, and because it said it wasn't there to hurt anyone, we let it stay, humoured it even, and made it's stay as comfortable as possible. Am I right in assuming we'd be afforded the same courtesies if we found ourselves in Sharda?

So what would you have done differently forgemaster? Wasted the lives of everybody in the camp. The battles on the following day would have been interesting, with both forces walking into an empty camp.

Sir,

If we do not fight an enemy because they are more powerful than us, then we've already lost. Don't forget we defeated 2 demons last years who tried to unseat and kill the Gods, we fucked from behind. Some portal prick has nothing on us.

And how much preparation did we have to do before we defeated them? I'm not arguing against fighting our foes.

4 people died when a werewolf that we could not defeat was provoked by stupidity. How many would have died if we provoked this foe.

Only a fool attacks a troop of skeleton without a blunt weapon.

Now we know this demon is is around I would hope the School of Demonology will take whatever measures are required to defeat it.

It would depend on the reason for your visit Schoolmaster. A few years back when folks were dealing with Shiban, a number of individuals went to Sharda to negotiate with the Heads of Houses for the ability to strip him of his demonic power. From the notes i have read when they got to the meeting point they were well received and there were even refreshments for them.

For the most part, no. That treatment would and ahould not be expected.

Most demons on this plane can easily be removed, and should be at any opportunity, preferably after a member of the school has attempted to discern their reason for being there, information that can help in local areas.

Some require more work and preparation. But that is work and preparation that should be undertaken to ensure when the oportunity arises to remove it, it can be done.

The demon that was in camp is one of the only type of Demon that can just will themselves between planes. However, it can only do so to complete a task set to it by another. This is due to The Pact, the interplanar treaty signed by Elysium and Sharda. I was not there, so cannot say as to what its task was however.

I hope this helps,

I appreciate it sounds like I'm being an arse. I'm not, I'm trying to establish parameters of working.

It seems like for right or wrong reasons, this particular type of demon - the golf demon, provokes a significant amount of fear or concern amongst those who make it their job to know about demons. We'd be daft not to take that advice.

But it does sound like we are also all in agreement that demons should not be here and should be removed.

So I suppose what I am keen to know if which demons are the ones that we can just cut loose on, there must be some that are just enforcers, brought here to threaten, bully and kill, with no more motive than violence and mayhem. Presumably nobody would lose sleep if we didn't question them?

And which are the ones that we should let the School of Demonology speak to first? If there are no demonologists around what would be the best way to tackle these types of demons?

Step 1: is it trying to kill you?
If so, try to kill it back; if not see step 2

Step 2: do you have a demonologist?
If so, let them talk at it with words; if not see step 1.

Step 3: if trying to kill it didn't work, run.

Is it known what this demon's task was if they can only enter this plane at the request of another. Can other demons set it a task?
