Laying to rest

Post by Elanor » 15 Sep 2019, 09:57

Is there a big difference to being laid to rest by a Kharachian and being laid to rest by a Necromancer? Does the soul go to the same place? Is it as quick? Is there any difference in how effective it is?

Whilst I am in no way interested myself, I do know from listening to folk discuss resurrection that a necromantic ritual is more painful than the Vleyborian one, so I was just wondering if there was a difference the other way.

Thank you for your time.

That I know of, Necromancers have to use some of their soulfire and focus on the ritual a little more than us Kharachians - who carry the knowledge as if it were one of our own limbs (shush!). I heard some people prefer one method over the other for whatever reasons but honestly, the soul still seems to get where it needs to go, and I have enough trust in the School of Necromancy that even if it did cause any distress, it would be absolutely minimal.

Also, this would've been a welcome change to yesterdays chosen conversation topic...

It was a musing whilst I was strolling home last night, whilst thinking of what I might do with the mithril ring the Forgemaster skilfully crafted. It sounds like there's not much in it, experience wise.

How are the arms feeling today? Still sore?

My understanding (from casting the ritual from a necromantic charged scroll) is that the caster may choose to send the soul elsewhere, but if no destination is provided, the default is that the soul is sent to Karach.

Where else can you send a soul to?
And why the fuck would you want to send it anywhere else?

I shudder to think where else a soul may be sent...

I need to review something in regards to this I think.

It's not a matter of 'wanting' to send a soul anywhere else, simply the nature of how the spell works. The method of transporting the soul is different. Due to the power and material costs involved Necromancers are likely to leave this up to Kharachians where possible, as the harvesting of souls is not what we do.

I am certain the school would be very, very upset should someone attempt to abuse our charged scrolls in such a way.

Master Rattle

I'm not sure I'm getting what you're saying there. If it's not a matter of wanting the soul to go somewhere else, are you saying that it just happens sometimes? That the soul just goes astray? Or are you saying that the Baronet was wrong and that souls just go to Kharach? Or are you saying something else that I just don't understand?

Thanks for answering another part of my question though.

Best wishes

Soulfire is impartial, as such it has the potential to be used for good or ill.

There are however significant consequences for those who choose their actions poorly.
