Looking for information on Gnolls

Post by bequietbailey » 20 Feb 2018, 15:15

I don't know much about these creatures, other than the fact they are stinking hound beasts that are often rabid.

Has anyone perhaps come across them and have any information?

Captain Lockwood,

I have encountered these Gnolls on two occasions that come to mind. In both instances they infested the underground hold of my Cousins of the Steelhammer Clan in the region of Norvic.

The creatures seemed to have some kind of hierarchy with the runty ones used as fodder for the bigger, harder gnolls. The big ones took many blows to lay low. The examples we encountered, especially the tougher pack members used large weapons often pole in nature.

I cannot recall recognising any magics or religious blessings among their number during our interactions.

Lastly as members of a pack they do appear to use tactics and had an understanding of the basic fundermets of line fighting strategy.

I wish you luck in any interaction with these fell Borkers (as we came to call them at the time, until we learned their true nature).

Keep some food handy. The ones we met seemed to have develped a taste for Dwarf..

May your cup be ever full,

Mister Captain Lockwood,

If you are meaning 'Barkers' then I have met them in the dwarven tunnels of the Steelhammer Clan. The dog-men scampered about, barking as they battled.

Only things I would note is that the dwarves of Steelhammer Clan said that the Barkers had only come when the dwarves had been trying to excavate a strange silvery ore. I examined the ore myself but it broke my dagger and caused my head to hurt. Smudge the little smith told me it was a seam of mithril. When we travelled away from the mithril we encounter other creatures living with the Barkers. The strange creatures were shadowy in nature and made strange chittering noises, I called them Clickers. The Clickers were fearsome and unharmed by anything except a blessed axe.

The creatures still inhabit the tunnels and the dwarves could do with help if you or anyone else with an interest in the Barkers want to come explore the tunnels.

Mr Hunter sir the Steelhammers would be most grateful if they tunnels were free of the infestation. I know that they have been many deaths amongst their community due to the fighting. What they be willing to trade for any aid would have to be between you and them I view myself as a friend of the Steelhammer clan but I can't speak for them.

Before any rush to mine the ore I would warn that there is more trouble than just the Barkers. The roots of a great tree have stretched downward to wrap themselves around the mithril. I'm not what this might signify but thinks something is amiss and must be put right before the mithril will be mined and available for trade.
