A Fool in the Town

Post by 063whii » 17 May 2019, 15:24

The actor's a fine one for plying his trade;
He looks so superb on the plans that he's made!
But take off his mask and you will be dismayed;
For he's made of a much paler shade!

If the actor were true, if the coward were brave,
If up could only be down!
If only, if only, not one were a phoney
We'd not have a fool in the town!

The blacksmith he seems like a sensible sort;
There's nothing he sells that cannot be bought!
And though we have got lots of coin in his store;
What if someone offers more?

If the actor were true, if the coward were brave,
If up could only be down!
If only, if only, not one were a phoney
We'd not have a fool in the town!

The knight he talks loudly and thinks with his sword,
The tales that you hear you can't help but applaud!
If only he wasn't so utterly flawed;
A liability we can't afford!

If the actor were true, if the coward were brave,
If up could only be down!
If only, if only, not one were a phoney
We'd not have a fool in the town!

And then there's the noble, the skulker, the pest;
She thinks that she's puppeting all of the rest!
Her pretense of power's a pretty poor jest
And nobody's really impressed!

Dark elves would find you interesting to kill. Not much of hunt but funny to chase if you speak like that.

I don't think calling a member of nobility 'the pest', or insinuating that a Knight is 'a liability' is a wise course of action

You're certainly gifted by the way of words, but I do not think this is the best use for that gift

Mercer

Is it suggested that every noble,
In truth and fiction,
Be of resolute and true purpose?
Have nobles not been blasphemers, quarellers, treason committers in thier time?
For I could name examples of each in in-fictious individuals.
Is it so alien to us that those held above us,
In thier mighty weight,
May lean heavy upon thier privedges
E'en where it is our lowly patience that support it?

In similar approch,
Are all knights of purpose true?
Knights of Pain? Knights beyond Death?
I would find one capable of defying my words to reasonable example
Deluded, secluded or misinformed.

For we all
Actors
Smiths
Priests
Knights
Peasants
Guildsfolk
Nobles
Heroes and fools

Are all but fallable mortals, and elevated at fallable mortal judgement.
What meat doth the knightly feed upon that they are grown greater than Jimmy the Peasant?
What air doth the baronet breathe that they are truer than Dantes the Fool?

There are moral fools and immoral fools.
Competent fools and bumblers.
There are moral betters and immoral betters.
Incompetent heroes and fumblers.

Fist
I have a remarkable blessing
What'er be thrown at me
To be in the right place
At the right time
With the right words
And the right cheap wine.

Lady Sommerholt-Wisty

I do not follow.
All personages exist purely in the imagination.
I would name no individuals particular
Contribuing to the creation.

What source of suggestion bears out,
that these figments stem from truth?
Do they hold resembelance to any of your aquaintance perchance?

The tales that you hear you can't help but applaud!
If only he wasn't so utterly flawed;
A liability we can't afford
I was wondering if i needed to speak to said knight

Oh what a fine fellow this fool be
When all around him pale, his prose be jest is the claim
And hark doth he move me to witter the same.

But Dantes my fine old fellow, thou doth playwith the fire
And through fear, ignorance and spite. You may find yourself on the pyre.

Dark
Your praise is most humbling,
Your words kind and clear
I thank you for your spoken wisdom
And the loan of your close ear.

Lars
A poet steps forth
His medical precision riddling his wisening verse
Diagnosis is warm, as is his reception and
Assessment direct of the patient prose proffered by this passing petty playwight and pastor of the populus

I jest little; if ever.
The state of our state is set at such afair
To gawp and to stare
And to frankly declare
'Stop'

Whate're parellels be drawn lying pependicular of perfected poicly
I present in this parlay my paltry provision.
