Newbie looking for gear

Post by Weird_Ginge » 02 Jul 2019, 14:38

Hi all, I'm new to this and looking to stop lending from others and buy my own gear.

I'm looking for 3pt leathers, mace, dagger. medium shield and anything else you might think useful for a scout.
Either by providing links for reputable sites or offer of second hand gear would be appreciated.

Thanks all

If you're on Facebook you could try UK Larp Kit. Lots of second hand stuff on there.

Hiya, during my time in LARP there are a few places you can go to.
LARP Inn will get you high-quality brand new weapons and soft kit for cheaper than most other LARP sites in my opinion. https://www.larpinn.co.uk/

Darkbladeuk.co.uk is pricier but these are the guys you go to for some of the best leathers and cap guns around.

For second hand there is the UK LARP Kit group on facebook but they can be infrequent and chances are they already sell out when you look.

Keep a close eye out on eBay.co.uk since you never know when there is someone selling off weapons or goods for a fraction of the price. Happens more times than you think. It's also a good place to find Indian metalwork that makes plate cheaper than most but is a little more shoddy than the LARP shop standards.

Things to avoid:
Amazon - people tend to lie about their kit at a lot more on Amazon than eBay strangely enough in my experience. Been burnt by it before.

Wish.com - Cheap Chinese knockoffs of kit will either tear or break on the first mission out. If not then they are 2 sizes smaller than what you select the size to be. Just no.

If you order weapons always get the silicone layered foam weapons (preferably isoflexed) Avoid the cheaper molded polyurethane foam weapons as they are a case by case basis whether or not they actually are soft enough to be LARP safe. (Some LARP sites may just flat out refuse them rather than take the risk.) They are cheap for a reason, save your money.

Hope this helps.
