Pistol Crosbows - any idea where to get them?

Post by The Jolly Knight » 10 May 2019, 18:47

Hey,

I'm looking at trying to get a pistol crosbow but not having much luck finding anywhere that is selling them (in stock).

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Matt

could try https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CROSS-BOW-La ... Sw3gJZODqz looks to be a reasonable facimile to the arrowkaster type bungie crossbow

Otherwise watch ebay & larp forums for the occasional sale of a vintage one is about the best option

I've bought the one that's been linked. It seems decent but I've not had a chance to use it yet. I'll keep you updated :)

Cheers for the suggestion, I take it the linked crossbow would be within system limits? :)

Says RATIFIED 10 KG PULL which is 25 lb, as ever "check with your LO" but believe this is under the limit.

Bolts would of course be the next question unless your are just replacing a failed crossbow, Gems tend to have a reasonable stock, if you happen to get the flat head IDV with rubbery flights then often / normally need gluing in place, plus tend to be a little slower due to friction from the rubber vs "proper" individually glued flights.

Thanks :)

+ It would be a new crossbow, so would need to get crossbow bolts. Is there really that much difference between types of flights?

Just remember not to buy screw head bolts.
If I remember correctly, screw on heads are currently not allowed in system.

Yeah screw heads not a bright idea.

Flight wise its noticeable in range difference, differential comes from those with individual glued on flights have wood / fibreglass in contact with the wood primarily, the rubber ones are basically a molded cylinder slightly larger than the shaft with two flights all in contact with the wood.

Ultimately not a major downer at "normal" combat range, but occasionally important. Generally carry a few of each when taking my crossbow out for walkies.
