Slight edit to include blasphemy under the powers of arrest of a DoF.

Is this an IC change in the law, or just correcting something that never made it into the document?

Also; the version is still listed as October 2018

Also also; in the two occasions where a DoF's powers of arrest are laid out on page 4, only one of them includes blasphemy. Also not called on page 10 (Arrest and bail).

I would guess that it's simply adding something that was missed on the last update.

The reason that blasphemy was amended and made a nationwide law rather than a local bylaw was because of arrests for heresy that weren't quite heresy but were still pretty bad, so the mordenhead bylaw of blasphemy was judged by the chief justice to be necessary for ithron as a whole, which would then put it under the remit of the DoFs.

Hope that helps! Last Summerfest was an important one for the law lol.

Yep, omission on my part, it was always intended that DoFs would have the power of arrest for both religious crimes. I just wrote the DoF before blasphemy became a thing about half an hour later, and never went back to make the edit.

More edits needed then, cheers :)

Cool cool;

So just to clarify; arrest for heresy under the powers of a DoF has been a thing for as long as heresy has been a thing, and just never made it into the doc?

I'm pretty sure it's always been in the law document. Same as GPs arresting for guild secrets.

Mostly because a certain DoF of Crowa many years ago used to arrest people for heresy - because they attacked him.

EDIT (found the passage):
"Defenders of the Faith and Guild Protectors These are counted as lawmen in some respects as detailed below. Defenders of the Faith refers only to those properly appointed by the Undercouncils of the churches of light. Where a suspect is believed to have broken Guild or Church law or has committed the crimes of Practicing Guild Secrets (and use of restricted weapons/poisons in the case of the Scouts and Mercenaries Enforcer and Witchcraft in the case of the Witchfinder) or Heresy, then the Guild Protector of the relevant guild (for guild secrets/use of restricted weapons/witchcraft) or the Defender of the Faith (for heresy and breaking Church law) may arrest the suspect. If the accused is a member of the relevant organisation then the Guild Protector or Defender of the Faith will administer punishments as they and the Undercouncil see fit. If the accused is not a member of the organisation they will be surrendered to the courts. "

Yes, as blasphemy is also a ‘church’ law, like heresy (effectively, a lesser version of heresy)

Heresy is not a church law though...
