Good Evening folks
This is a question for both candidates. Though it may seem directed at one more than the other.
Do you consider 10 months a reasonable amount of time for the society to wait for the publication of minutes from the exec?
Thanks
Jack

Re: Question for Secretary Candidates.
Hi Jack,
Thank you for your question.
In a normal year, no, you're correct. 8 months, which is how long it took me to get the minutes out, is not acceptable.
Of course, this year has not been a normal year in any stretch of the imagination. There were many difficult topics spoken about during this exec which affected my mental health, for the same reason it all affected my health last year during the Wagstaff Appeal.
As much as it was difficult for me, I wanted to do it justice. It was a six and a half hour exec and there was a lot spoken about. It wasn't easy and as we were in lockdown I don't believe it affected the smooth running of the society.
Thank you again for your question.
Josie.

Re: Question for Secretary Candidates.
Thank you for the response Josie.
Firstly, my apologies for miscounting the months.
I also want to take the opportunity to thank you for your candour, the whole Wagstaff situation was extremely trying for everyone involved, even those on the periphery.
While I can genuinely appreciate the trying nature of the information discussed at the exec and the effect that this had, I do feel that I need to ask, both looking back and going forward, would you consider asking another member of Central to help with the minutes? Both for your sake and the sake of the society?

Re: Question for Secretary Candidates.
Hi Jack,
I don't; no. In my manifesto, I've committed to release of the minutes of an exec meeting within one week of close. Whilst this seems like a short turnaround, much of the work is done at the meeting itself; it is after all, a record of the meeting.
I understand the circumstances that have surrounded the society in the last few months and can see how they may have affected the turnaround time, but I feel eight months is too long a time not to have a meeting at the society's democratic heart in member's hands.
I hope this helps and thanks for the question!
Anthony

Re: Question for Secretary Candidates.
Hi Jack,
Both Penny and Elle offered to help on many occasions.
The issue was that I was too proud to accept the help. I got into a rut and felt like a failure for not doing them, which led to a spiral of trying to do them, having issues crop up, feeling awful about not doing it, having help offered and insisting I could do it.
That was obviously wrong, and I should have taken the help rather than lie to myself and insist I could do it. I'm taking it as a learning experience. The help is there, it is offered, and Penny and Elle are massively supporting so I should bloody well accept the help if I'm struggling.
It will not be happening again. That's a promise I can make.
Thanks,
Josie
