Ronish
Fools and Heroes uses its own in-game written language – Ronish.
This is very similar to the English alphabet, with each letter having its own rune to represent it. This is used to help simulate living in a different world and to explain the difficulties with literacy experienced by many non-scholarly characters. Rhonish is used for spells, prayers and ancient texts, it is required for some professions but not all.
Documents and notes to help Players learn how to write and write Ronish can be easily obtained from a Branch LO once they begin play. Many other Players will often happy to teach a starting character how to effectively read and write if asked nicely.
